Innovative Contribution to Family Nursing Award to Professor Rahel Naef

At the 16th International Family Nursing Conference in Dublin, Professor Rahel Naef was given the Innovative Contribution to Family Nursing Award. The award recognizes members of the International Family Nursing Association (IFNA) who have demonstrated innovation in the implementation and dissemination of family nursing research, education, policy, and/or practice. Furthermore, the team of Implementation Science in Nursing at IfIS held three presentations at the conference.

The 16th International Family Nursing Conference took place in Dublin from June 20 to 23, 2023. The Implementation Science in Nursing team, headed by Professor Rahel Naef, attended the conference and held three presentations: “Developing and Testing of a Complex Family Support Intervention in Intensive Care Units: The FICUS Study” (Professor Rahel Naef), “Building the Science and Practice of Family Nursing Implementation: Insights from a Scoping Review” (Dr. Lotte Verweij), “Dementia Carer’' Experience of Long-Term Care During the COVID-19 Pandemic: An International Grounded Theory Study” (Dr. Qëndresa Thaqi).

The highlight of the conference was the presentation of the Innovative Contribution to Family Nursing Award to Professor Rahel Naef. The award recognizes members of IFNA who have demonstrated innovation in the implementation and dissemination of family nursing research, education, policy, and/or practice. Special recognition was given to Professor Naef’s exceptional mentoring and role modelling abilities, always striving to demonstrate the importance and value of integrating clinical practice and and research, making her a transformational family nursing leader who contributes to improving the health of families around the globe.

The IFNA embraces a compassionate family focus on health, social justice, human dignity and respect for all. The IFNA vision is to build a community of nurses and other health care professionals who are dedicated to transforming health for families worldwide. IFNA has currently more than 400 members from 33 different countries. The IFNA awards are presented every two years in four categories. Among the thirty individuals nominated in 2023, six were awarded.
