NeoIPC, a Horizon 2020 funded project, will identify best practices for the prevention of infections and surveillance of resistant bacteria in neonatal intensive care units in Europe. By conducting a multi-center cluster randomized hybrid implementation-effectiveness trial (Type II), the project will assess the safety and effectiveness of specific, low cost and simple interventions to prevent transmissions and infections with hospital bacteria in newborns. Researchers at IfIS are leading the implementation science work package in this project, which will aim to (1) establish a neonatal infection prevention and control research and implementation network and (2) develop and evaluate strategies for sustainably introducing infection prevention practices in neonatal settings.
