Biography

Since May 2021, Lotte Verweij is employed as a Research Associate for Implementation Science in Nursing at the Institute for Implementation Science in Health Care at the University of Zurich and Center for Clinical Nursing Science at the University Hospital Zurich.

Lotte holds a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the Amsterdam University of Applied Science and a Master of Science in Clinical Epidemiology from the University of Amsterdam. On July 8, 2021, Lotte will defend her PhD at the University of Amsterdam on "Bridging the gap - Adapting transitional care to older cardiac patients' needs". As part of her doctoral work, Lotte focused on risk screening in frail cardiac patients and conducted a randomized trial of an interdisciplinary transitional care intervention in the same population. Several qualitative and quantitative methods were applied to evaluate the study.

Lotte has clinical experience in neurology, neurosurgery, and medium care, where she worked for 10 years as a clinical nurse and team leader. Afterwards, Lotte worked as a lecturer in nursing at the University of Applied Science in Amsterdam and on her PhD with a focus on evidence-based practice.
