Biography

Julia Bänziger is a post-doctoral researcher, and health psychologist accredited by the FSP. She completed her training at the Université de Fribourg, Université de Lausanne, Macquarie University, the Swiss School for Public Health, and the Universität Luzern. Her research at IfIS concerns the implementation of infection prevention and control in the neonatal intensive care unit, colorectal cancer screening, and the de-implementation of low value care.

In her PhD, Julia investigated the psychosocial long-term consequences of childhood cancer for former patients and their family members. During this time, she obtained a doc.mobility fellowship of the Swiss National Science Foundation (SNSF 178330), contributing to a large randomized controlled trial testing psychosocial interventions (Kids Cancer Centre, University of New South Whales, Australia).

Julia’s pioneering work concerns the lived experiences of pregnancy and motherhood of women with congenital heart disease. With an early post-doctoral mobility fellowship (SNSF 195091) as well as supported by a Harkness fellowship in health care practice and policy, she investigated mental health care services for patients and their family members as visiting fellow at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Centre in the U.S. and Sydney Children’s Hospital Network in Australia.
