Implementation Science: Consulting for research and practice

Are you facing the challenge of closing the gap between science, management and practice in the real world setting of health care? Are you wondering how to improve everyday effectiveness of evidence-based interventions in health care through implementation strategies? We can support you.

Our aim and approach

The Institute for Implementation Science in Health Care (IfIS) aims to provide scientific support for implementation projects in health care research and practice and thus to strengthen the application of implementation science. In doing so, the IfIS follows an integrated approach consisting of:

  1. research
  2. teaching
  3. training
  4. consulting

Consulting is based on a broad interdisciplinary expertise of Implementation Science and Health Sciences. In addition, IfIS is involved in national and international implementation and health networks.

The first consultation hour is free of charge.

Our procedure

Based on the six elements of the Hexagon Model (need, evidence, fit, broadness, capacities, and supports), adapted from Metz et al. 2018, we work out the consulting needs by asking specific questions and jointly develop a way to select and advise on appropriate approaches for the problem at hand.

To this end, the key guiding questions are as follows:

  • What is the aim of your project?
  • What is your concern?
  • What are the expectations of consultation?
  • What is the level of evidence for the intervention?
  • What is the status quo of the project?
  • What are the next (priority) steps of the project?
  • What is the level of fit of the intervention?
  • What is the readiness to implement the project?
  • What is the capacity at the level of skills, motivation, and conditions?
  • What are the supporting needs from the consultancy (form and time horizon) and what resources are needed?
