Biography

Torsten Schwalbach first studied Nursing and Health Promotion (B.A.) at the Evangelische Hochschule Darmstadt (Germany) from 2011 to 2014, and then trained as a registered nurse at the Charité - Universitätsmedizin Berlin (2014-2016). He then worked there clinically in different specialties such as intensive care, hematology/oncology and in a clinical nursing expert team for dementia and delirium, during which he also gained first research experience.

From 2018-2020, in addition to his clinical work, he completed his Master of Science in Nursing with a focus on advanced practice nursing at Frankfurt University of Applied Sciences (Germany). He also obtained specialization in dementia-sensitive hospital and palliative care.

Between 2021 and 2023, he worked at the University Hospital Basel (Switzerland) as a Clinical Nurse Specialist in cardiovascular surgery, where he was responsible for evidence-based nursing and practice development.

Since March 2023, he is employed as a PhD student in the nursing science research group at the Institute for Implementation Science in Health Care at the University of Zurich and is involved in the BEST for Family project under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Rahel Naef.
